Earth Day Mindfulness 

Earth Day is a wonderful opportunity for us to reconnect with Mother Nature. A great way to do that is with a little bit of mindfulness. 

This simple practice engages all of our 5 senses. All we need to do is step outside and breathe. 

Step 1:

Find a comfortable seat and take in a deep breath.
Notice how you feel right now. 


Step 2:

TASTE

Make a funny face by puckering your lips and pretending you have a straw in your mouth. Sip in all the air through the “straw.” Notice how the air tastes COLD. Hold it for a second. Now let the air out by saying “Ha.” Notice how the air is WARM when you let it go. 

Try that again, going from cold air to warm air.

Step 3:

SMELL

Close your eyes and breathe through your nose…what do you smell? Breathe calmly while observing the different smells around you.

Step 4:

SOUND

Keep your eyes closed…what do you hear? Breathe calmly while observing the different sounds around you.

Step 5:

SIGHT

Open your eyes and look straight ahead. Breathe…What do you see? Breathe calmly while observing your natural environment.

Step 6:

TOUCH

Close your eyes one more time. Breathe in and out and notice…what do you feel? Breathe calmly while observing these sensations.

Step 7:

Open your eyes and notice…how do you feel now


That’s it! Hopefully you feel more relaxed and connected with Mother Earth!
